چکیده

We discuss conceptional and foundational aspects of Markov automata [22]. We place this model in the context of continuousand discrete-time Markov chains, probabilistic automata and interactive Markov chains, and provide insight into the parallel execution of such models. We further give a detailled account of the concept of relations on distributions, and discuss how this can generalise known notions of weak simulation and bisimulation, such as to fuse sequences of internal transitions.

A Survey of Concurrency Control Algorithms in the Operating Systems

Concurrency control is one of the important problems in operation systems. Various studies have been reported to present different algorithms to address this problem, although a few attempts have been made to represent an overall view of the characteristics of these algorithms and comparison of their capabilities to each other. This paper presents a survey of the current methods for controlling...

Karlin’s Basic Composition Theorems and Stochastic Orderings

Suppose λ,x,ζ traverse the ordered sets Λ, X and Z, respectively and consider the functions f(λ,x,ζ) and g(λ,ζ) satisfying the following conditions, (a) f(λ,x,ζ) > 0 and f is TP2 in each pairs of variables when the third variable is held fixed and (b) g(λ,ζ) is TP2. Then the function h(λ,x) =∫Z f(λ,x,ζ)g(λ,ζ)dµ(ζ), defined on Λ×X is TP2 in (λ,x). The aim of this note is to use a new stochast...

Compositional Representation and Reduction of Stochastic Labelled Transition Systems based on Decision Node BDDs

Compact symbolic representations of large labelled transition systems, based on binary decision diagrams (BDD), are discussed. Extensions of BDDs are considered, in order to represent stochastic transition systems for performability analysis. We introduce Decision Node BDDs, a novel stochastic extension of BDDs which preserves the structure and properties of purely functional BDDs. It is shown ...

Optimization of majority protocol for controlling transactions concurrency in distributed databases by multi-agent systems

In this paper, we propose a new concurrency control algorithm based on multi-agent systems which is an extension of majority protocol. Then, we suggest a clustering approach to get better results in reliability, decreasing message passing and algorithm’s runtime. Here, we consider n different transactions working on non-conflict data items. Considering execution efficiency of some different...

A Concept for the Modular Description of Stochastic Petri Nets

Petri nets represent a modeling paradigm which allows to build general models by using a small number of graphical primitives. The strong point of Petri nets lies in their ability to model system aspects such as concurrency and synchronization and to represent these aspects graphically. Due to this reason, stochastic Petri nets (SPNs) are frequently used for model-based performance and dependab...
